A postmistress from Botwnnog is stepping down after over a quarter of a century behind the counter.

Lowri Richards, 81, is retiring after 27 years of tireless service to the local community, meaning the village will no longer have a postal service.

Mrs Richards has been a familiar character behind the counter in Botwnnog post office every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Mrs Richards was in fact born above the post office in Porthmadog – as her parents ran the business.

She now plans to enjoy retired life in Sarn.
