A POSTPONED colour run on the Llyn Peninsula will now take place next month and hopes to attract hundreds of participants.

Sunday, 16 July, will see the St David’s Hospice Colour Run take Glan y Don beach, Pwllheli creating a colourful day of fun. The 5km fun run, which was postponed in May, saw more than 400 participants join in the event in 2016.

Margaret Hollings, head of fund-raising at the hospice, said: “It was unfortunate circumstances that led to the May event being cancelled, but as promised we have rearranged with a new date in July.

“Starting at 11am, it really is a 5km fun run with a difference – every participant gets showered in coloured paint along the route and it is great fun! You don’t need to be an avid runner to take part, the event is open to friends, family and tots.”

Margaret continued: “St David’s Hospice offers 24-hour care, 365 days a year providing a clinical service alongside emotional, physical and spiritual support.

“The hospice offers patient care, bereavement and counselling services, symptom control and respite, as well as end of life care for those with shorter life expectancies in the most dignified environment.

“This year it will cost more than £3m to provide all hospice services to the communities of North West Wales. With just 14 per cent of this figure coming from the NHS, it means that the Hospice is dependent on the communities it serves to raise the additional 86 per cent. This equates to over £2.5m per year”.
