Madam,

On 1 July, there were at least 105 motorhomes/campervans parked overnight on Black Rock Sands, Morfa Bychan. The rate at which “wild camping” is escalating is truly alarming.

There are several problems which concern residents and businesses because of this increase. The toilets by the main entrance are not open late at night and early mornings. This results in campers calling at private caravan parks wanting to use their facilities which are of course reserved for people who are prepared to pay for their camping. This results in abusive behaviour when they are turned away.

Gwynedd Council would have made enough money on the beach this weekend to afford to pay wages so that the facility can be opened early in the morning and closed late at night.

There should be signs on the entrance warning parents not to allow children to play in the dunes in view of the human excrement health hazard. Let’s hope Gwynedd Council can expedite a bylaw stopping overnight parking on all our beaches.
