Madam,

Following the announcement by the Westminster Government on Wednesday 3 February, where a pledge was made to maintain S4C’s funding in the 2016/17 financial year at the same level as in 2015/16, we must welcome this commitment and the opportunity now to show the government just how crucial S4C’s contribution is in sustaining the Welsh language.

In addition, the channel is a means to maintain and create jobs in an area that has already been prioritised by the Welsh and British governments, namely the Creative Industries.

I also hope that we’ll see S4C work with key stakeholders such as those within higher education, business, our communities and the skills sector to show Westminster that there is a productive future for the channel in this ever-changing digital age. C6 is a network which aims to collaborate and ensure that north Wales has representation and a strong creative voice.
