NEWS that £1.4m is to be invested to deliver a “first-class” sewer network for Borth was welcomed this week.

Dwr Cymru Welsh Water has announced the works, which, it is claimed, will improve the sewer network in Borth and deliver a boost to the local environment.

The not-for-profit company says the works will begin early in the New Year and bring long-term benefits by improving the performance of the waste water network in the area.

The project will see a new sewer laid in private fields, from behind the community hall to the Borth waste water treatment works, replacing a total of 1,300m of pipe — the length of 13 rugby pitches.

Dwr Cymru’s capital delivery project manager, Dan Purchase, said: “We are committed to investing in our waste water network for the benefit of our customers and the environment.

“Our work in Borth represents a major investment to improve the waste water network and will deliver an environmental boost to the local area.

“We appreciate that this kind of work can cause some inconvenience and have liaised closely with local businesses and residents regarding the work to ensure we carry out the work with the least disruption possible.”

It is anticipated that the scheme will take six months to complete.
