A PUBLIC footpath could be diverted to help keep naturists screened from ramblers and dog walkers.
The path runs through a former farm which is now a naturist camping and caravan site, and concerns have been raised about the public coming into contact with or sight of guests enjoying the Carmarthenshire scenery.
The owner of Dolcoed camping and caravan site, near Llanllwni, said it was a secluded, respectable and family-friendly place which had increased footfall at the village shop and pub.
“We’re very strict, and everybody keeps themselves to themselves,” said the owner, who asked not to be named.
Guests are currently out of sight of ramblers, partly because the footpath has obstructions and hasn’t been used for years.
But that could change this week after a Carmarthenshire Council meeting on Friday, 13 April.
Council officers explained in a report that the footpath was to remain where it was when planning permission was given to the new owner to develop the former farm into a campsite.
Ward councillor Linda Evans, said the report, then got in touch with the authority when she learned it was to be a naturist site.
A meeting was held at County Hall to look at the options, and Llanllwni Community Council requested the whole path be reopened.
A senior council officer then met the owner on site, and it was agreed the owner would apply to reroute the footpath, which she has done.
The report said of the proposed route: “At Dolcoed this would pass through two fields between the campsite and neighbouring houses where no unclothed people would be allowed, and the campsite would be screened by hedgerows.”
