A PUBLIC meeting will be held next week by Elin Jones AM and Ben Lake MP regarding the broadband situation in Ceredigion.

It will be in the company of Julie James AM, the Welsh Government Minister with responsibility for overseeing the rollout of broadband in Wales.

This meeting will take place at 4pm on Thursday, 26 April, in the Llanina Arms meeting room, Llanarth.

Currently, the Think Broadband website says that only 77.1 per cent of locations in Ceredigion have a Superfast Broadband connection, while the Superfast Cymru contract between the Welsh Government and Openreach ended at last year with a target of connecting 90 per cent of properties across Wales.

Ms Jones described the public meeting as a “great opportunity for people to find out about their broadband".

She added: “With Julie James AM present, there will be a discussion about the current situation on the ground as well as an outline of the next steps and an opportunity for questions.

“Representatives from Openreach will be at the meeting, and I am confident that there will be many questions for them. There will also be representatives of broadband businesses based in Ceredigion, who may be able to offer affordable alternatives to constituents, as well as advice on funding for necessary work.

“I hope that this will be an opportunity for those that attend to find out more about the many options available to them, moving forward.”
