MEMBERS were delighted that past member Romy was a guest at the December meeting. Thanks were given to Anne Astington and to Sue Jones for producing the programme card for the coming year. Thanks were also given to the members who provided cakes and served tea, in aid of Breast Cancer Wales at the recent Pumsaint Craft Fayre and to Anne A, Anne B, Maggy G, Marie and Betty for their performance at the county enter-tainment day. Get well wishes were wished to Dini Hardy. Sympathy was extended to Mair Reed on the death of her father-in-law and to Sue Davies, for her late husband’s mother.The centenary blanket is to be donated to refugees Helen would take it to Elena Gilliatt who is collecting locally. Jo GL had brought along the centenary beer brewed by Jacobi Brewery Caio, with a label designed by member Sue Jones. Jo was thanked for organising the bottling and labelling.Sylvia gave her report from the annual council meeting. She said Pam Kelly and Jenny Bond were excellent speakers, and reminded members the Sir Gâr Federation will be 90 next year and asked the group to think of ways to celebrate. Twelve members are booked to take part in the county quiz and two for next October’s Denman weekend. The shortlisted resolutions were voted on: to avoid food waste and to address food poverty gained the most support.The speaker for the evening was Melvin Grey who talked about and showed wonderful images of owls from the UK and around the world, he was accompanied by his wife Cheryl and between them they judged the monthly competition of an owl in any medium. Sue D’s chocolate owl cake was declared the winning entry with Helen second and Anne B third. Linda gave the vote of thanks to Melvin. Sylvia won the monthly raffle.Marged W and Menna W served special festive refreshments much appreciated by everyone.The meeting closed with the singing of Jerusalem and good wishes for Christmas.The January meeting will be a games evening. Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month and new members are always welcome.
