A PWLLHELI woman battling for nearly five years to get her Turkish husband to the UK plans to petition Prime Minister David Cameron.

Mum-of-two Hailey Louise Aldirmaz has spoken of her heartbreak after her husband was denied a UK visa to move to live with her and their children, because she doesn’t earn enough.

Hailey married her husband Hasan in Turkey on 15 March, 2012 but when he applied for a UK visa to join her he was refused because it was said he did not meet the minimum income visa requirement.

A law, introduced in July 2012, states British citizens must earn more than £18,600 a year to bring over a non-EU spouse.

The trainee teaching assistant, who has a six-year-old daughter and four-year-old son with her husband, has now accused the government of denying their right to a family life.

She said: “As a training teaching assistant and living in north Wales this annual income is impossible for me.”

Hailey says her children miss their father terribly and it’s also affecting their education because she is taking them out of school three or four times a year to visit Turkey.

“It’s heartbreaking. Hasan missed both of his children being born and is also missing them growing up,” she said.

Hailey has now launched a petition entitled ‘Help my children to have their father and me have my husband living with us!’ which she is planning to send to Mr Cameron.

A Home Office spokesman said: “Mr Aldirmaz’s application was refused because it did not meet the financial requirements of the immigration rules.”
