PWLLHELI Town Regatta Week is returning next week and the new organising committee is extending a warm welcome to all residents to take part in the different activities planned.
Many local businesses and clubs have worked together this year to promote the regatta as 2018 is the Visit Wales Year of the Sea.
Activities such as sand-castle building competitions, golf competitions, live music, a Pwllheli lifeboat exhibition and a sea-food street festival will take place throughout the week.
The traditional Pwllheli regatta and parade of boats will take place on 7 July followed by a Summer Ball at Plas Heli.
The first recorded Pwllheli regatta was in 1894 and the pictorial evidence shows that the whole committee consisted solely of men.
The 2018 committee decided to recreate the picture at Glan Don and shows how Pwllheli regatta has moved with the times with eight women and two men in the picture – and not a beard in sight.
