Residents at Hafod Mawddach in Barmouth celebrated the Queen’s birthday in style last weekend with the residents wearing party hats and other fun regalia. The care assistants served them with a vast array of lovely party food to eat at their leisure. In the background there was music from the 1950s era to lighten the atmosphere. At 1.30pm there was a surprise visit from none other than HRH the Queen accompanied by her husband Prince Philip, otherwise known as care home assistant Sue Hunter and her partner Phil Parker. Her Highness was greeted by the residents with rapturous applause and also laughter. She then proceeded to greet each resident personally with the usual handshake and a little chat. Her Majesty also joined the residents in a toast with sparkling wine to celebrate her birthday. All rounded off with strawberries and cream and birthday cake. At 2pm the new Mayor of Barmouth, Mrs Valerie Mcardle, made a surprise visit also and greeted the residents by introducing herself and then proceeded to circulate among them offering each of them some chocolates which were gratefully accepted.
