Machynlleth railway staff have donated £100 of toiletries and feminine hygiene products to the local food bank.

Bro Ddyfi Food Bank gives out emergency food parcels to those in real need within the Dyfi Valley.

Volunteer Clive Thomas said he was “extremely pleased” with the donation of toiletries.

“It’s natural that the first items anyone thinks to give is food,” he said.

“But toiletries and feminine hygiene are also essential non-food items that many people suffer the indignity of not having enough money to afford the absolute basics.”

At Machynlleth railway station, five volunteers run a tuck shop in their mess room, selling various items for staff to purchase.

The small profits made are going to support the local community.
