A PLASCRUG School pupil has raised £170 for charity after walking up the highest peak in south Wales.
Reggie Hayward, 10, and his mum Natalie Clothier, who live in Llanbadarn Fawr, completed the walk up Pen y Fan in the Brecon Beacons on 5 August.
“I wanted to do something to raise money for charity and the charity I chose was Cancer Research UK, which is very close to me,” said Reggie.
“I have raised about £170 for cancer research. Thank you to all who sponsored me.”
Natalie said Reggie was keen to climb Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales and England, but she thought it was “too adventurous” for his first climb.
“He wanted to do something to raise money for charity as one of his friends is having her head shaved for charity,” she said.
“I did Snowdon back in May and Reggie asked if we could climb Snowdon. But I thought it was a bit too adventurous for his first climb and Pen y Fan was the smallest out of the three — Snowdon, Cader Idris and Pen y Fan.”
