Madam,

In reply to the letter published in the Cambrian News, titled Boy racers not the only speeders on road through Cross Inn, I take this opportunity, as a retired professional living in Nebo, to inform your readers that, although the traffic through the village has increased over the last 20 years that I have lived here, I do not agree with your correspondent that vehicles both private and business are using the road like a race track, particularly as all HGV vehicles have limiters fitted which prohibit speeds in excess of 55mph.

I certainly have seen no sign of vehicles travelling past my home at 80mph.

And, as for suggesting that “boy racers” are conducting time trials, I can only say that that is a ridiculous and fanciful notion.

Instead of expecting Ceredigion County Council to install traffic-calming measures, surely it would be better use of their limited funds to repair all the potholes which are a constant blight on our roads and to collect all the litter which is an eyesore on the entire road network.

Yours etc,

J Jones, Nebo.
