COUNCIL officials will meet with residents in Llanbedr today (Thursday) to discuss a proposed bypass.
Local villagers and businesses are being encouraged by Gwynedd Council to attend a ‘drop-in’ exhibition at the Llanbedr Village Hall between 2pm and 8pm so that they can express their views on the proposed preferred option for access improvements in the area.
The Llanbedr Spaceport and Enterprise Park have been designated as part of the Snowdonia Enterprise Zone, with the need to improve site access identified as a key priority in order to maximise the economic opportunity of the site.
A recent campaign by locals has raised concern that the public does not feel it has been properly consulted about the new road and that it has not been referred to as a ‘bypass’ until recently.
A Gwynedd spokesperson stated: “The drop-in exhibition follows previous exhibitions undertaken as part of the Welsh Transport Appraisal and Planning Guidance (WelTAG) process to identify and appraise transport options and have outlined the preferred option that has been subsequently developed as part of this process.
“The work of developing possible access improvements within Llanbedr and along Mochras Road to the airfield is being carried out by YGC, Gwynedd Council’s Consultancy Department on behalf of the Welsh Government.”
