BALA will be hogging the limelight this weekend as the town’s cinema enjoys a grand reopening after more than a year of being closed.

Neuadd Buddug has not been operating since April last year after its film technology became obsolete.

There were also concerns over issues of accessibility up to and within the building.

Following a protracted but passionate campaign from local action group Ffrindiau Neuadd Buddug, with the assistance of Gwynedd Council and the Arts Council of Wales, the building is once again open for the public to enjoy.

With the submission of a successful application to the Arts Council of Wales, Neuadd Buddug will be able to remain open for a “transition period” until a new cultural facility becomes ready in the new community school.

In addition to the installation of a new digital projector and sound system, a new access ramp and an accessible toilet have all been constructed on the site.
