A SERIOUS collision on the Llyn Peninsula has closed one of the area’s main roads this afternoon.

The collision between a silver coloured Volkswagen Polo and a white Ford Transit van occurred on the A499 at Bwlch y Ffordd in Y Ffor at around 3.45pm.

Two people have been taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor with injuries believed to be serious.

The road has been closed from the crossroads in the middle of Y Ffor to the roundabout in Llanaelhaearn.

A spokesperson for Gwynedd Council said: "Unfortunately, the road is expected to be closed for four to six hours."

Police officers are currently at the scene conducting an investigation and are appealing for any witnesses to contact officers at the Roads Policing Unit on 101, quoting reference number U106817.
