A route between Aberystwyth and Rhayader has been listed among the 15 least-used scenic routes in the UK where drivers can escape the chaos of traffic congestion.
Comparison website gocompare.com drew up the list using a combination of traffic figures from the Department for Transport and recommendations from Visit Britain.
Wales’ five quietest scenic A-roads include the A4120 between Aberystwyth and Devil’s Bridge and the continuing B-road to Rhayader.
The roads in the least-used scenic list are said to be used by as few as 400 vehicles per day.
The Aberystwyth to Rhayader route is said to be used each day by around 431 vehicles.
The other quiet routes in Wales listed are the A4069 between Llangadog and Upper Brynamman, the A4086 between Llanberis and Blaenau Ffestiniog, the A470 between Conwy and Merthyr Tydfil abd the A5 between Chirk and Bethesda.
