Madam,
I wonder how, as a community, we can address roadside rubbish, particularly on the stretch of the A487 between Bow Street and Aberystwyth.
All the approaches to Aberystwyth are uninviting and this rubbish is not biodegradable, so it is just getting worse.
It looks to me like no-one has picked up litter on this particular stretch of road in several years.
Local volunteer groups have done amazing work on our beaches and streams, but this stretch of road would be dangerous for volunteers to work on without some traffic-calming measures.
Obviously the council should be responsible and, although I accept that they are stretched due to central government austerity, I don’t see how any other group can take on this task.
Perhaps our councillors could be creative and ask for community involvement if the problem cannot be solved in any other way?
In addition, I am always amazed that people drop their rubbish in our beautiful Cymru and I wish they would stop doing it!
Yours etc, Lynda Thomas, Penyranchor, Aberystwyth.
