RESIDENTS of Blaenporth are on a collision course with Aberporth Community Council over the distribution of a £39,000 windfall arising from the setting up of a Blaenporth solar farm.
Councillors believe the community benefit payment should be spread throughout the parish, while Blaenporth villagers maintain it should go to the community directly affected by the development.
The two sides are poised to clash at what promises to be a stormy public meeting at Aberporth Village Hall on Tuesday, 22 March.
In an open letter to residents of Aberporth, Parcllyn and Blaenannerch, the Blaenporth Community Management Committee explained why they are so angry at Aberporth Community Council’s proposal to share the one-off community payment from Elgin Energy, the company responsible for the 40-acre solar farm at Blaenporth.
“The resident whose property adjoins the solar farm was promised compensation by the energy company,” the letter states. ”She has not received a single penny.
“Some residents of Bowls Road have to draw their curtains at certain times of the day to block the glare from the panels"
