REFUSE was not collected from three north Ceredigion villages because of “resource issues”, Ceredigion County Council has revealed.
Refuse, including black bags, recycling bags and food waste, wasn’t collected in Talybont, Bontgoch and Penrhyncoch on Thursday, 5 July, with the council instead arranging a collection for Friday, 6 July.
The official explanation for the failure to collect the refuse was “resource issues”, with similar problems also hitting collections in south Ceredigion for the same reason.
The council said collections were cancelled at times because of problems with issues such as staffing or vehicles.
A spokesperson said: “Unfortunately from time to time there are factors which influence our ability to provide the level of waste collection services that we would want and which stakeholders, including customers, would expect from us.
“Issues affecting resources, sometimes at short notice, in terms of staffing and vehicles can impact on service delivery levels and this has been the case last week.
“We are continually looking to develop and improve communication channels with the public and other stakeholders.
“A recent development has seen the introduction of a waste service disruption page on the council’s website and the public can contact [email protected] or phone 01545 572572 during office hours for information regarding waste collections.
“While it cannot be guaranteed, efforts are being made to collect any missed collections.
“The waste management service would like to extend its apologies for any inconvenience caused.”
