CALLS are being made for urgent improvements to be carried out at a busy junction in Porthmadog after an elderly woman was hit by a car.
The crossing on the junction of Bank Place has caused concern in the town for a number of years.
And now calls are being made for Gwynedd Council to make the area safer for pedestrians after an elderly lady was struck by a vehicle and taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd with non-life-threatening injuries.
Cllr Selwyn Griffiths, who represents the area on Gwynedd Council, has recently met with officers from the highways department in the hope improvements can be made.
He said: “I would like to see the crossing moved higher up Bank Place and I have also raised my concerns about people crossing on the High Street from the Factory Shop to the Commercial.
“I would like a separate barrier to stop people from crossing there so close to the road.
“At the same time I would like to see improvements on the corner of the Post Office.”
