A DENTAL therapist has launched a fund-raising drive to take vital skills and equipment to Kenya.
Sally Reading, who used to work in Ystwyth Dental practice in Aberystwyth as a senior dental nurse and practice manager and is now a qualified dental therapist, is hoping to raise £8,000 to take a dental team out to the highest village in Kenya, Nyahururu, in June.
The trip is being arranged through the charity Dentaid.
Sally said: “During the two-week mission we will work alongside a local dentist Ben Mburu, supporting him in his clinic.
“I hope to, in the not to distant future, build a permanent dental clinic for Ben. This is vitally important to create stability of dental provision in the area as well as protecting the dental equipment from the elements."
Hoping to raise £8,000, Sally has managed to raise over £1,000 so far. For information and to donate to Sally’s cause visit www.justgiving.com/sallyreadingkenyanfund
