An Aberystwyth beauty therapist has raised almost £1,500 for hospice charity, HAHAV.

Sally Lingard who owns Beauty Spot in Baker Street and lives in Aberarth, took part in the Cardiff Half Marathon to raise money for the hospice at home charity set up to support patients and their families, friends and carers.

Sally, 41, wanted to raise money for HAHAV in memory of one of her relatives.

“When I first signed up for the half marathon I wasn’t going to raise money for charity, but then I thought it would spur me on,” she said.

“Last year my sister and I took part in the Swansea Bay 10k and raised over £1,000 for Dementia UK in memory of our Nan.

“This time I thought I’d go for a local charity. My dadcu died of cancer 10 years ago and we were lucky because our family was able to help, but not everybody has that support and that’s where HAHAV can help.”

As well as raising money for charity, Sally also started running to lose weight. “I wanted to do that and get fit,” she said, “and the weight dropped off so I ran even more,” she said.

Sally’s efforts paid off and a total amount of £1,465 was raised.

“I presented the cheque to Menna Manley who is the volunteer co-ordinator for HAHAV,” Sally said.

“I just want to say a massive thanks to everyone who was so generous in donating."
