A beauty therapist will take on the Cardiff Half Marathon to raise money for local charity, HAHAV.

Sally Lingard who owns Beauty Spot in Baker Street in Aberystwyth but lives in Aberarth, will take part in the event on Sunday, 6 October, to raise money for the hospice at home charity set up to support patients and their families, friends and carers.

Sally, 41, wants to raise money for HAHAV in memory of one of her relatives.

She said: “When I first signed up for the half marathon I wasn’t going to raise money for charity, but then I thought it would spur me on.

“Last year my sister and I took part in the Swansea Bay 10k and raised over £1,000 for Dementia UK in memory of our nan.

“This time I thought I’d go for a local charity. My dadcu died of cancer 10 years ago and we were lucky because our family was able to help, but not everybody has that support and that’s where HAHAV can help.”

As well as raising money for charity, Sally also started running to lose weight.

“I wanted to do that and get fit,” she explained, “and the weight dropped off so I ran even more,” she explained.

Sally has raised £600 so far. To help her raise more, visit www.givey.com/sallylingard77 or pop in to Beauty Spot to see Sally in person.
