A TYWYN school has been gifted a piece of life-saving equipment as a poignant memorial to a former pupil.

Ysgol Uwchradd Tywyn will receive a new defibrillator, which can save lives in the case of a cardiac event, purchased from the donations in memory of Elisha Carter, who passed away earlier this month at just 17 years of age.

Elisha’s mum Emma Furneaux made the gesture during a recent fund-raising initiative which saw pupils come to school in red clothing.

The fund-raising story began in April, following a CPR training day back in the school for Year 10 pupils by Nick Aitken from Welsh Hearts/Calonnau Cymru.

The training proved so popular that staff and pupils were enthusiastic to raise funds for a defibrillator to be installed on school premises.
