AN ABERAERON schoolboy turned up for lessons in a skirt in protest at having been sent home for wearing shorts the previous day.
Ysgol Gyfun Aberaeron pupil Louis Fice, 16, said he made his solitary demonstration in a fight for equal rights.
“I got sent home Wednesday for wearing shorts because I was hot and my shorts are ‘not in the dress code’ yet girls were walking around in skirts,” he said in a Facebook post.
"So to break the barrier I turned up in a skirt and was told by every teacher to change. Let’s stop this inequality and get shorts in the dress code - it’s 2018, not 1950.”
Louis’ stance sparked widespread comment on social media. While one poster advised him to "Man up and wear trousers" the vast majority of observers expressed support.
“Good on you,” said one. “So unfair that boys can’t wear shorts when it’s so hot outside.”
