A NEW sensory room has been opened for people with learning disabilities in Aberystwyth after a three-year project.
Bryn Siriol is a respite service for adults with learning disabilities and is situated in Penparcau.
Mencap are the service provider and Karen Dagg is the registered manager, who said: “The sensory chalet and its erection has been made possible due to a generous legacy made by Mr Williams whose daughter Thelma used to be supported at Respite before moving to a Menap supported living house in Cardigan.
“The equipment has been funded by a generous donation from Llanddeiniol church and the staff and people we support have done car boot sales over the past two years to raise additional fund. The residents of Ceredigion have been very generous donating items for us to sell.
“A team of people from CTLD at Ceredigion County Council also did a sponsored coastal path walk and donated all of their sponsorship money to the cause.
“The sensory room will be available to all people in Ceredigion with a learning disability to use.”
