SEVERE weather brought major disruption to areas of the Llyn Peninsula this week, causing trains to be cancelled and power cuts.
On Tuesday, Storm Jonas headed across the Atlantic, after causing havoc on the east coast of America, and brought with it strong gales and torrential rain leaving many areas with flood warnings.
All trains between Porthmadog and Pwllheli were cancelled throughout the day after the sea flooded the railway.
Pwllheli also suffered power cuts during the day.
A Network Rail spokesperson said: “Due to hazardous conditions at the sea wall at Afon Wen, the railway line has been closed for safety reasons. Staff are in the area but are unable to examine the line due to the hazardous conditions.
“The line will remain closed until the weather conditions improve and staff are able to safely assess the track. Trains are terminating and restarting at Porthmadog.”
