Following the demolition of the 90-year-old Aberporth Village Hall an appeal has gone out for photographic memories of events in the hall.
Thanks to funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the hall committee are working with Hanes Aberporth History group to record memories from the past decades.
Perhaps it was a school show, winning prizes at the horticultural show, a jumble sale or raffle – any photographs or memorabilia are wanted to help create pictorial display boards for the new hall when it finally opens in spring 2023.
The lottery-funded project - A Village Hall for Generations – has already delivered the transcribing of old hall minutes plus a film of senior villagers memories.
Volunteers will be holding a scanning day at Canolfan Dyffryn on Saturday, 13 November from 2pm to 4pm. Bring along your photos and memorabilia to share with future generations who will use the new hall. Items will be scanned and returned. Images will be stored on a community archive for everyone to access.
The film of senior villagers memories will also be shown during the afternoon.
If you can’t make the scanning day but would like to share your images, contact hall trustee and project officer Sue Lewis on 07402 255010 or email [email protected]
