RESIDENTS in a Meirionnydd village are outraged after the bodies of more than 20 pheasants were unceremoniously dumped on the beach.
Last Monday (27 November), a local resident, who wished to remain anonymous, was “shocked and appalled” when her husband witnessed somebody ditch a trolley-load of dead birds on Fairbourne beach.
She said: “My husband was out walking the dogs at dusk when he saw someone empty a shopping trolley on to the beach.
“He was going to have a word but, by the time he got to the scene, the dumper had gone.
“He saw lots of dead pheasants and came back and told me. I went and looked myself and I was absolutely outraged.
“Where did the birds come from? How did they die? It’s a disgusting thing to do.
“Everyone knows what people in Fairbourne are going through, so we all do our best to keep the place looking nice. What a foul, disgusting thing to do to those poor birds.”
The resident reported the incident to Gwynedd Council Maritime Unit who confirmed the incident.
Gwynedd Council’s Maritime Unit is urging anyone with information about the matter to contact them on 01758 704066.
