Madam,

Re: planned tourist office closures,The closure of the magistrates of-fice in Dolgellau (Cambrian News, 18 February) is a further small nail in the coffin of local services in Gwynedd as Westminster continues to back the bankers at everyone else’s expense. I note the outrage expressed by Ms Saville-Roberts, echoing the anger she expressed at the tax office in Porthmadog closing and her protest in opposition to Trident renewal. Alas, Ms Saville-Roberts has been utterly silent on the council’s proposed closure of every tourist office in Gwynedd and nearly all the public lavatories. Perhaps she’s rather less outraged when her own party generates the cuts? Tourism is Gwynedd’s major resource and tourist offices are the gateway into it, the shop front for many thousands of visitors. Ms Saville-Roberts is apparently unmoved by the closure of key parts of it. And am I right in thinking Ms Saville-Roberts was also one of those responsible, in a less prominent role, for closing quite a few Welsh language primary schools in Gwynedd back in 2013? Are cuts okay if it’s your own party making them? Good intentions are not enough to defeat a predatory Tory government. Selective outrage, anger and/or protest from Plaid Cymru can’t, on its own, solve the problems of Gwynedd.

Yours etc
