LOCAL talent has helped raise over £800 at a glittering event in Tywyn.

On Saturday, 20 October, dancers, singers and performers all strutted their stuff at Neuadd Pendre, raising £867.80 for a children’s hospice charity.

All the performers were from Tywyn and the surrounding area, and it was “a pleasure to watch such amazing home-grown talent”, according to Cathy Evans, chair of the Ty Gobaith Tywyn Friends Group, who put on the show.

Hosted by David Roberts of Aberdyfi, the first half of the evening saw Sarah Verity’s junior ballet dancers perform three dances, a solo from Sue Tacey, Ysgol Penybryn singing four songs accompanied at the piano by Menna Puw, Rhiannon Anikey playing the piano and singing two songs she had composed herself, and the Glee Club from Aberdyfi followed by a solo performance by Annette Pullan.

During the second half, the stage was mostly given over to the Glee Club whose members performed many entertaining items, including solos from Alan Winspear, Elin Williams, Alison and Rhys Sayes, Maria Rees, Katie Curtis and Lisa and Gillian, accompanied on the piano by Fiona.

John Ty Du rounded off the evening singing Calon Lân and then led a rendition of Mae Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau, effortlessly accompanied by Mrs G Thomas at the piano.

“As chair of the group, I’d like to thank everyone who gave up their time to perform, and for their tireless rehearsals,” said Cathy.

“Also to everyone who helped in any way during the evening, with special thanks to David Roberts for keeping everything running smoothly, to Sam Pullen, Callum Andrews and Callum Crawford for expertly handling the technical side of things for us, and to Michal Janik and Anna for capturing it all on film."

Photographs of the show are available through photographer Michal Janik on Facebook. All proceeds from sales will also go to Ty Gobaith.
