Madam

The closure of Potters Yard in Machynlleth has caused a great deal of inconvenience to local people.

There has been an increase of fly-tipping, and small local builders are having difficulty in disposing of waste materials.

The alternative for them means a journey to Newtown, which puts more pressure on the roads and the environment.

We are aware that the closure of Potters Yard was due to a lack of funds. We would like to suggest that a charge could be made at the gate, with a sliding scale for a wheelbarrow, a car, a trailer or lorry. The sale of recyclable items could help with the cost and recycling is environmentally friendly.

If you are in favour of restoring the facility, could you please sign the petition. This will give the council the opportunity to discuss the matter, to see if the idea is viable.

Yours etc,

June Crossley, Cae Maenllwyd, Machynlleth.
