A CRICCIETH singer has been left distressed after a racist and sexist video was uploaded to YouTube “dedicated” to her.
Former Ysgol Ardudwy pupil, Nesdi Jones, 23, who is an award-winning singer and rapper, has been left devastated by the video which has been uploaded to YouTube by an individual believed to be living in India.
The video – labelled ‘A tribute to Nesdi Jones’ – has received over 1,500 views on YouTube and includes sexually explicit lyrics and references to women’s skin colour.
The talented singer, who has just returned from promoting her music and filming a documentary in India, where she is a huge Bhangra star, says she is urging YouTube to remove the video from their site.
She said: “I’m devastated and appalled that someone can write such awful, vulgar and disgusting words about a woman.
“I was completely mortified when I discovered this video existed, it’s extremely sexually explicit and really degrading.
“It makes me sound like a piece of meat.
“It’s shocking that people think that this behaviour is okay.
“I feel like this individual has made a personal attack on me and I have found this all very distressing. When people search for me now on Google this video comes up which is very upsetting.
“I urge everyone to report the video so we can get it taken down. Speaking about women like this is not okay and should not be encouraged.”
The video was posted a year ago onto YouTube but only recently was it given an English translation.
