A MOTHER of twin boys is on a mission to get other mums of young twin children together in an attempt to create a new group.
The first social get together will be held this week at Ar y Bêl in Ffosyffin and Caryl Mayes from Rhydowen, near Llandysul, hopes that several mums will turn up.
“Having young babies can be isolating, and having twins can be more so,” said Caryl, who is raising her twin boys, four-month-old Lucas and Theo by herself.
“It’s a lot of hard work and many mums decide not to go out in case people judge them due to twins sometimes being extremely busy.
“It isn’t easy and by establishing this group I hope that mums feel they can meet other mums in the same situation.”
She started the group ‘Twin Mums in Ceredigion and the Surrounding Areas’ on social media and within a day had a huge response.
“It was on a whim really. I hadn’t realised there were so many twins in the area when I created the group on Facebook and over 24 mums have already joined. I’m hoping we can meet at a central location once a month and we can all talk and socialise. It will be very positive,” she said.
If you’d like to join Caryl and other mothers of twins and their children, she can be contacted on 07870 749060 or on Facebook by searching for Twin Mums in Ceredigion and the Surrounding Areas.
