SISTERS who work at a Meirionnydd respite centre for disabled people and their families are taking on a hair-raising challenge for charity.

Shonie and Alex Williams, who both work at Gwesty Seren in Llan Ffestiniog, will be plummeting 13,000 feet at speeds of well over 120mph after jumping out of a plane above Shrewsbury on 23 March.

Shonie is currently a finalist for Miss Wales 2018 and is raising money for ‘Beauty With A Purpose’ - an organisation which helps underprivileged children across the globe and creates humanitarian projects worldwide.

They are aiming to raise £1,000, and they have already raised £500 towards that target.

The beauty queen said: “I had the idea of doing a sponsored skydive because I’ve always wanted to do it! Then I told my sister I was doing it and she said she will too.”

The finals for Miss Wales take place on 28 April. To vote, visit www.misswales.co.uk

“I’m more excited than nervous to jump out of an aircraft. It’s going to be an amazing experience and I get to share it to someone close to me.

“Our goal is to raise £1,000 and we have nearly raised £500 already so we’re very excited!”

Alex was not quite as enthusiastic about the forthcoming challenge.

“Unlike my sister I can’t say that I’ve always wanted to jump out of an aircraft!

“Shonie is very passionate and determined about the competition and raising awareness for the charity.

“This is why I’m dropping 13,000 feet at 120mph. Wish us luck!”
