SIX Ceredigion beaches across the county have retained top beach status and will fly the coveted Blue Flag this summer.
Borth, Aberystwyth North, New Quay Harbour, Llangrannog, Tresaith and Aberporth beaches have all been awarded the International Blue Flag for 2016, each retaining the title from last year.
Ceredigion has been awarded four Green Coast awards and 13 Seaside Awards, as the county gears up for the main tourist season.
Aberystwyth North regained its Blue Flag status last year after losing it for several years; while New Quay Harbour can now boast the Blue Flag status for the 17th year in a row.
Cllr Gareth Lloyd, Ceredigion council’s Cabinet member for tourism, has welcomed this year’s award announcement.
He said: “Ceredigion’s beaches are amongst the best in the UK."
