A GRATEFUL 21-year-old from Tywyn has completed a skydive in honour of those who helped her mother through a battle with breast cancer.

In October 2015 Catrin Medi Owen was devastated to learn her mum Annest Owen had been diagnosed with the disease which effects one in eight women in the UK.

However Catrin, who works at Sandilands Farm, was relieved to learn that her mother was given the all-clear in July last year, thanks to the skill, care and attention of the staff at Bronglais Hospital’s Chemotherapy Day Unit.

In order to show her appreciation, Catrin decided to thank those who had treated her mum and decided to undertake a fund-raiser.

As a result, last October Catrin threw herself out of a plane last October over Swansea as part of a sponsored sky dive.

“It was amazing, I was a little nervous in the morning before the jump but once you’re out the door, you forget about being scared and just enjoy yourself,” Catrin told the Cambrian News.

“I’ve never done anything like this before but I was determined to give something back, I’d certainly do something similar again.”

The brave fun-raiser was quick to thank everyone who sponsored her, even if it was just for £1, as she raised a whopping £4,375 for the Chemotherapy Unit.
