FORECASTERS have warned residents in mid and north Wales to expect up to 10cm of snow later this week as arctic air moves its way south.

The Met Office issued a yellow — be aware — warning of snow for the west coast of Wales today, Monday, which is expected to bring between two and five centimetres of snow to lower lying areas on Thursday and Friday, with people living in areas above 300m warned to be prepared for up to 10cm of the white stuff.

To add to the disruption, parts of north Wales will face the added disruption of 55mph winds, causing blizzard conditions.

The Met Office said: “Cold northerly winds will bring occasional snow showers through Thursday and into Friday.

“Be aware of the potential for disruption to transport networks.”

And the Chief Forecaster added: “A cold airstream will be in place by Thursday afternoon, bringing occasional snow showers.

“2-5cm of snow is possible, with 10cm possible above about 300m.”
