A GROUP in Dyffryn Ardudwy has raised over £570 through a sponsored walk in memory of a former colleague.
Clwb Hwyl Dyffryn Ardudwy Social Group raised the money for the Wales Air Ambulance in memory of Bethan Roberts.
The group walked over 2.5 miles around Dyffryn Ardudwy and the surrounding area to raise money for the charity.
Learning disability support service Leader Gwyn Williams told the Cambrian News about the fundraiser and why the group wanted to raise the money.
He said: “The fundraiser went really well thankfully.
“We recently lost a former colleague who worked at the group, Bethan Roberts, who sadly passed away a few months ago.
“The individuals in the group decided that they wanted to give something back to the air ambulance in her memory.
“There were 13 of us all together on the day, and we managed to collect £570.
“This was not the final figure as money is still being donated.
“Trish and the team at Cafe Cynunedol were very kind to provide the refreshments on the day.”
For Gwyn, being able to take part in the fundraiser meant a lot.
He added: “Taking part was a pleasure and an honour to be raising money for such an important cause and giving back to the community.
“It gave a big sense of achievement for the individuals who have a learning disability.”
