PARANORMAL investigators have been brought in to inspect caverns in Blaenau Ffestiniog after spooked staff members claim to have spotted the ghosts of two miners on site.

Workers constructing the new Bounce Below subterranean playground of nets and slides, set in the 176-year-old disused Llechwedd Slate Caverns, claim to have spotted the ghosts of two miners on site.

Developers working deep inside the caverns discovered a hidden area of disused mine works and a disused kitchen.

They claim that following this discovery their tools and equipment have been moved around and they were hit by sudden icy temperatures whilst working. They also claim to have heard the sounds of pickaxes scraping the walls behind them.

Staff member Gethin Jones said: “We’ve been working in the depths of the mine and building more and more detailed layers to Bounce Below, so we really are deep in the caves.

“I personally heard strange scraping sounds from the walls that shouldn’t be there; my spade and tool bag both moved without explanation and one of the guys in the team said he couldn’t go back in after seeing what he described as two misty figures walking away from him.”

These events then led bosses on site to call in real-life ghostbusters to assess the site and verify the apparent ghostly apparitions.

Local ghost hunter Shane Wyn-Jones, who investigated the caverns, said: “When you’re down in the caverns, it feels like someone is watching you all the time.

“I’m not surprised the workers felt a presence."
