ON Saturday, 4 March, Cered: Menter Iaith Ceredigion will host Cered ar y Prom at the bandstand.
Cered ar y Prom is part of the wider Parêd Gwyl Dewi event which celebrates the Welsh Language and the patron saint of Wales.
There will be a day of Welsh-medium activities and entertainment for families between 9.30am and 4pm.
Since its inception in 2013 Parêd Gwyl Dewi Aberystwyth has developed every year and is by now one of Wales’ premier events to celebrate St David’s Day.
One of the developments this year will be the Owain Glyndwr Square Performance Stage where there will be quality musical entertainment between 10.30am and 12.45pm with Meibion y Mynydd from the Ponterwyd area, the acoustic singer songwriter Mari Mathias from Talgarreg and the popular local quartet Bois y Fro.
Cllr Ellen ap Gwynn, the cabinet member responsible for the Welsh Language, said: “Cered ar y Prom’ is a great opportunity to celebrate Wales and the Welsh Language. I’m very pleased to see a range of activities on the day – something for everyone.”
The highlight of the day of course is the parade which will start from Aberystwyth’s Clock Tower at 1pm, led by well-known entertainer Glan Davies.
