THE statue of the Welsh cob stallion at Aberaeron’s Square field has become the talk of the town after a mystery benefactor decided to give it a knitted horse blanket and fetlock muffs - with even the delicate bits given covers.

Two ladies had been seen sitting on a nearby bench with what looked like a bag of knitting on Thursday.

On Friday morning passersby realised that the old fellow was now resplendant in his new winter gear.

Our informant said: “It must have been the same ladies who came back a lot later, after dark”.
