A TEENAGE girl who was robbed at knife point while working at an Aberystwyth town centre convenience store has said she is “very happy” the robber has been sent to prison.

It was reported in the Cambrian News last week that 30-year-old Lee Michael Southan was sentenced to four years in prison after admitting robbery and possessing a knife in a public place.

Southan had targeted the Premier Express store on North Parade on Easter Sunday, 27 March, in which he got away with £1,125 after entering the store wearing a mask and wielding a 30cm-long knife.

After entering the store, Southan confronted 19-year-old assistant Anna Pikula and ordered her to “open the f***ing till and give me the f***ing money”.

When Southan demanded she put the previous day’s takings in a draw-string bag as well, Ms Pikula told him they were not on the premises, which is when Southan produced the knife and told her not to lie.

Speaking to the Cambrian News this week, Ms Pikula said that although it had been a “really difficult” period in her life, she was “very happy” that Southan would be off the streets for some time.

“That is great and I am very happy about that,” she said. “It has been a really difficult time for me and I am happy I don’t have to go to court and all that is done now.

“The fact he is in prison makes me feel a bit more safe."
