Aberystwyth’s new bandstand was hit by Storm Frank last week.

Despite having to push back the anticipated completion date from August to October, and again to 22 December, contractors WB Griffiths & Sons Ltd of Haverfordwest were not able to complete the structure before Christmas.

And as Storm Frank brought waves crashing into Aberystwyth promenade last week, a window on the rear of the new bandstand became open and water was seen rushing in.

Cllr Mark Strong told the Cambrian News he was “disappointed” to see construction again not finished on time.

“It is down to delays earlier in the year which have had a knock-on effect and constructors are trying to play catch-up,” he said.
