AROUND 60,000 tonnes of sand has been used to repair storm damage along Pwllheli beach.
For a number of weeks work has been carried out along the beach at Marian y De to the Carreg y Defaid area of Pwllheli to ensure beach levels are raised.
Barry Davies, Gwynedd Council Maritime and Country Parks officer, said: “Work recently came to an end to move approximately 60,000 tonnes of sand that had been dredged from the mouth of Pwllheli harbour.
“This work, which has been carried out by Jones Bros Contractors on behalf of the council has involved transporting the sand along the beach at Marian y De to the Carreg y Defaid area of Pwllheli.
“The sand is being used to replenish sand that has been eroded by natural coastal processes and the sand will ensure that the beach levels are raised which will, in turn temporarily reduce erosion in this area.”
