Experts from media company Hansh have held a special workshop for students in Pwllheli.

Grwp Llandrillo Menai performing arts and media students were given a day workshop by Antena/Hansh.

It was run by independent television production company Antena, which is responsible for making a high percentage of Hansh’s videos for S4C.

During the morning sessions, Elis Dafydd Roberts, Geraint Iwan, Iwan Pitts and Rhys Gwynfor gave a presentation on Hansh including how to aim content at a particular target group and tips on how to create a popular video.

Students then had the opportunity to develop ideas suitable for Hansh before receiving feedback from Antena.

During the afternoon session the students had the opportunity to create videos from the ideas they had developed with the experts in the morning around the college and using techniques such as a green screen.

To conclude the day the students had an exhibition of their work as well as receiving feedback from the experts.

Sioned Williams, bilingualism officer at Grwp Llandrillo Menai/Sgiliaith said: “This is the first time Antena have held such a workshop, and they and the students thoroughly enjoyed it.

“The workshop was an excellent opportunity for students to learn new skills from TV and media experts in Wales. In addition, it has raised students’ awareness of the job opportunities in media in Wales and the need for Welsh language skills in those posts.”

The day was organised by Canolfan Sgiliaith, an organisation that provides innovative and progressive support on bilingualism in the post-14 education sector in order to improve students’ bilingual skills and experiences.

The day was sponsored through the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol’s Small Grants scheme.
