PROACTIVE students in Dwyfor and Meirionnydd have raised more than £1,500 for a mental health charity.

As part of a college-wide initiative Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor raised money for Mind Môn a Gwynedd.

Grwp Llandrillo Menai’s Student Union chose local Mind charities as the Grwp’s charity of the year for 2016/17.

The Student Union and staff and students across all of the Grwp’s campuses took part and arranged numerous fund-raising activities to raise a whopping £4,321.89 for Mind Môn a Gwynedd, Mind Aberconwy and Mind Vale of Clwyd. Cheque presentations took part across the college campuses with the 2016/17 Student Union Presidents and representatives from the Mind charities.

Gethin Glyn, Student Union president at Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor for 2016/17 presented the cheque to Clare Bailey, chief officer at Mind Môn a Gwynedd.

Clare said: “We’re so grateful for all of the efforts of the students at Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor for raising £1,630.02 for Mind Môn a Gwynedd.

“The amount is absolutely fantastic and we’ve loved keeping up to date on social media with all the activities that the students have arranged to fund-raise for us.

“All of the money will go back into services supporting young people in our local community and Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor’s Campuses. Thank you so much for supporting us.”
