TWO acrobats in Blaenau Ffestiniog have swapped extracting slates for spinning plates this summer.
‘Dangermen’ Iago Morgan Jones and Keirren Jones, from Llechwedd Slate Caverns, have taken up a ‘circus skills residential’ for the duration of the school summer holidays.
The duo, who normally work around 500 feet below ground as part of Llechwedd deep mine tour, will be delivering daily circus skills workshops throughout July and August.
People taking part in the workshops will be able to practise activities like juggling, unicycle tricks, hula hoop, stilt walking and gymnastics.
The workshops will take place in the open air, against the imposing backdrop of Llechwedd’s quarries and the Snowdonia mountains.
Iago and Keirren are both well qualified in aerial and circus skills – and are both part of the Cimera Circus, a social enterprise company based in Caernarfon which travels across North Wales.
The family-friendly circus skills workshops will take place at Llechwedd every day, weather permitting, throughout the summer holidays, from 10am until 4pm, and are suitable for children from age five through to adults, of any age or ability.
A fee applies.
